Lighthouse Prep · Study alarms

A study alarm that rings before every session.

Tap the ⏰ on any session in your plan and your phone rings five minutes before it starts, every day, like a real alarm clock. That's enough time to get to your desk before the session begins.

Alarms ring in the Android app. You can switch them on from any device.

A notification is easy to miss

A study reminder that arrives as a notification lands in a pile with everything else and makes one short sound, if any. Study alarms ring the way your morning alarm does: the sound loops, and the alarm fills the screen, even over the lock screen.

How it works

  • One tap per session — every session card in your plan has an ⏰ Alarm chip. Tap it and the chip shows the time your phone will ring.
  • Five minutes early — it rings five minutes before the session starts, so you can be at your desk and press Study on time.
  • Every day — your plan is a daily routine, so the alarm repeats daily until you tap the chip again to turn it off.
  • Start, Snooze or Dismiss — the ring screen gives you three buttons, right on the lock screen.

It follows your plan

Alarms belong to the plan you're following. Switch to another plan and its sessions' alarms take over. Pause a session and its alarm goes quiet until you bring the session back. If you're signed in, the alarm is saved with the session itself, so switching one on from a laptop reaches your phone the next time you open your plan there.

Why five minutes early

A session that starts at 7:00 rarely starts at 7:00. The alarm at 6:55 is there so the first minutes of the session go to studying, not to finding your notes. Every minute that slips shows up in your wastage report as planned time you didn't study, and a start-of-session alarm is the simplest fix for that kind of leak.

Set it once, on Android

The ringing is done by the Android app, so that's where alarms sound. On Android 14 and newer, the first time you switch one on, the app asks for Android's "Alarms & reminders" permission and offers to open that setting for you. Without it, an alarm can arrive several minutes late.

On a computer or an iPhone you can still switch alarms on: they're saved with your sessions and ring on your Android phone. If your Android app is older than the alarm update, it tells you to update from the Play Store instead of promising a ring it can't make.

Frequently asked questions

How early does it ring?
Five minutes before the session's start time. Once the alarm is on, the chip shows the exact time it will ring.
Does it ring every day?
Yes. It repeats daily until you turn it off from the same chip or pause the session.
Does it work on iPhone or on a computer?
The ringing happens only in the Android app. You can switch alarms on from any device, and they're saved with your sessions and ring on your Android phone.
My alarm rang late. What do I do?
On Android 14 and newer, allow Lighthouse Prep under "Alarms & reminders" in your phone's settings. The app offers to open that screen the first time you set an alarm.
I turned an alarm on but nothing rang.
Update the app from the Play Store. Alarms need a recent version, and an older one says so when you switch an alarm on.
Why is there no alarm chip on some sessions?
Sessions without a start time, like those in a flexible plan, have no time to ring at, so the chip only appears on sessions that have one.
Is it free?
Yes. Study alarms are part of the free app.
