For SBI PO aspirants

An SBI PO plan built for sectional timing.

Prelims with a clock on every section, a Mains dominated by Data Analysis, then descriptive writing and the interview — planned as one continuous cycle.

Most competitive exams let you rescue a weak section with a strong one. SBI PO does not. Sectional timing in Prelims means your weakest section sets your ceiling, no matter how good the others are.

That single fact should shape your whole preparation, and for most candidates it does not — because it is more comfortable to practise what you are already good at.

Lighthouse Prep plans against that instinct.

How it structures SBI PO prep

You configure once:

  • Stage you're targeting (Prelims, Mains, or the full cycle)
  • Target exam date
  • Daily study hours you genuinely have
  • Your weakest section
  • Whether you're also preparing for IBPS PO or another bank exam

The AI plan builds a daily schedule across Reasoning, Quantitative Aptitude, Data Analysis, English, Banking and Economy Awareness, and descriptive writing.

A typical SBI PO study day

  • Weakest section first — scheduled at your sharpest hour, not squeezed in at the end.
  • Data Analysis block — one DI set type in depth: caselet, tabular, mixed, missing data.
  • Reasoning block — puzzles, seating arrangement, syllogism, input-output.
  • English — reading comprehension, error spotting, or para jumbles.
  • Banking and Economy Awareness — 20–30 minutes, static plus current affairs.
  • Timed sectional set — against the clock, replicating sectional limits.

Sectional timing has to be practised, not just known

Knowing there is a 20-minute limit is not the same as having sat twenty of them. Candidates lose marks in Prelims not because they cannot solve the questions, but because they spend nine minutes on a puzzle set that was never going to break.

The planner keeps timed sectional practice as its own session type, separate from learning, so you build the instinct for when to abandon a question. Across weeks you can see whether that instinct is actually developing.

Mains is a Data Analysis exam

The step up from Prelims to SBI Mains is mostly a step up in DI. The sets are longer, involve more layers, and reward calculation speed and comfort with approximation.

Because DI gets its own scheduled track rather than sitting inside general Quant, it accumulates hours over months instead of being crowded out by easier arithmetic practice.

The descriptive paper and the interview

Essay and letter writing are scheduled as recurring sessions with weekly targets, and the planner counts what you have actually written. For most candidates that number is a surprise.

Interview preparation can be added as its own track once you clear Mains, so the short gap before the interview is planned rather than improvised.

Features for SBI PO prep

  • Weak-section weighting — because sectional timing makes it your ceiling.
  • Data Analysis as its own track — not a subtopic of Quant.
  • Timed sectional practice — separate from learning, replicating exam limits.
  • Descriptive writing tracking — essays and letters counted over months.
  • Spaced revision — automatic, most valuable for Banking Awareness.
  • Focus timer — measures real study time, not desk time.
  • Wastage analytics — shows which sessions break your concentration.
  • Lumi AI mentor — explains a DI approach or banking concept in plain language.

Who this is for

  • First-attempt candidates who need structure across a full cycle
  • Repeat candidates who clear Prelims but stall in Mains
  • Working candidates fitting bank prep around a job
  • Anyone preparing for SBI PO and IBPS PO in parallel

Frequently asked questions

How does sectional timing change how I should prepare?
It removes your safety net. In an exam without sectional limits you can borrow time from a strong section to rescue a weak one; with sectional timing you cannot. That makes your weakest section your actual score ceiling, so the planner deliberately weights time toward it rather than letting you practise what you enjoy.
Why is Data Analysis treated separately from Quant?
Because SBI Mains is dominated by it. DI sets in Mains are longer, more layered and more calculation-heavy than the arithmetic most candidates practise. The planner schedules DI as its own recurring track rather than as a subtopic of Quant.
Does it cover the descriptive paper?
Yes. Essay and letter writing are scheduled as a repeating session with a weekly target, and the planner tracks what you have actually written over months. Most candidates write far fewer than they intend, and the descriptive paper is a common reason for narrowly missing the final list.
I'm preparing for SBI PO and IBPS PO together. Does that work?
Yes, and most serious candidates do. Create both as separate exams. Shared Reasoning, Quant and English work counts once, while SBI-specific emphasis — heavier DI, the descriptive paper, group exercise — stays on the SBI track with its own target date.
How does it handle Banking and Economy Awareness?
As a short daily block, with static banking topics and current affairs both resurfacing at intervals. This section rewards small consistent exposure over months and punishes cramming, which is exactly what spaced revision is for.
Is it free?
The core planner, timer and revision system are free.
