What SSC actually asks from current affairs

SSC General Awareness is recall, not analysis. A question gives you a name and wants the position, or gives a tournament and wants the winner — so these digests keep the fact in one retrievable line rather than a paragraph of context.

Sports, awards and appointments are far more heavily tested in SSC than in UPSC, and they are the easiest marks in the paper to lose by simply never having seen the name. They are pulled to the front here for that reason.

The GA section is 25 questions in CGL Tier 1 and it is the fastest section to answer — the time you save there is time returned to quantitative aptitude, which is where the paper is actually won.

How far back to revise. SSC General Awareness leans on the last 6–8 months, with sports and awards clustered around the tournaments and ceremonies themselves.
