CM Vijay to Release Water from Mettur Dam for Delta Irrigation on September 1

Due to inadequate storage, Cauvery water could not be released from Mettur Dam for Delta irrigation on the usual date of June 12 this year. Following an inspection by the Salem Collector, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay is scheduled to release water from the Mettur Dam on September 1. Minister for Water Resources N. Anand announced that the water release will continue for a period of 45 days to support irrigation in the Delta districts.
